Regrets = Lessons Learned

2:33 AM

I'm struggling with this feeling of regret. The whys and the what ifs are plaguing me, and I am without a doubt, doubting myself. I based a decision off of a want rather than a need, and now I am paying for it, and I'm starting to wonder if the price is too high, even for me. When people are asked if they have any regrets, most people (if not all) say, no, I don't regret anything. I use to say the same thing, until I got older and realized that regrets are the prelude to a happier ending. There is usually some good that comes from regrets, a lesson to be learned.

However, dressing a regret up in a pretty dress called a lesson learned without first accepting it for what it is does not erase the regret itself. It does not make it look better, it does not take away the fact that you do in fact have regrets. I have them, and they are heavy. One day I'll be able to say that they are lessons learned, but right now, they are exactly what they are, regrets.

Lets just call a spade a spade
