A Day At The Sauna...Better Known As: Work

4:58 PM

When I woke up this morning, I knew it was going to be hot. But didn't nobody tell me that I was going to be close to fainting. It was just one of those days where I didn't drive, I mean I knew it was going to be hot, but I didn't know what I was going to be dealing with. My daddy took my to the bus stop and let me just tell you that the inside of his car felt like the next level of hell. It felt like the place I suspect people who have done so wrong in their past get sent when the devil feels like even hell is too good for them. Jump to me getting on the bus, the first one wasn't bad, there weren't a lot of people, the air was blowing nicely, and the ride was perfect. But then of course there is always something that is bound to mess up your day. My second bus (which takes me to work) was hell on earth. The people on the bus chose this day of all days to NOT shower, and the bus driver decided to NOT turn the air on. It was twenty minutes of pure hell, the smell, the heat...oh my GOD. Moving on...

I get to work and the Beverly Center was on it, they had the air blasting throughout the mall everyone was happy and smiling. Then, I walk into my store and I just...I wanted to damn it cry. OUR AIR WASN'T WORKING! So I decided to keep everyone posted on my hot work day from hell on Facebook. Here are some of my status updates:

Are You There God? It's Me Alana...I can't take this heat, I just can't.

This lady who is a Jehovah's Witness just came up to me wanting to talk to me about people who do bad things. I said, "Ma'am, it's hot I really don't care." I just...leave me alone.

This little girl(9yrs old) just stormed into my store and swung at her mom because she said that she left her. She fell out crying after she hit her. And screamed, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" to her mother. I'm going to blame the heat for her actions because I too want to hit something/someone...but not my mom though. I'm not crazy.

And in other heat related news: every customer that comes in here says, "my God it's so hot in here. Is your air not working?" It is on the tip of my tongue to say, "yes it works, we just like being hot and a second away from passing out." one lady said,"you poor thing, do you need anything? Water? Food?" and when I said no and thanked her, she said, "God bless you."

As you can see, I was just barely hanging on. I hadn't eaten any food, I had no water in my system and the room was starting to spin. Finally, the girl who was suppose to close with me came and saved my life! She ran to get me some water and I about lost my mind when the cold water settled inside of my hot body. But the store was still hot, the customers were still asking questions, the registers were still offline, and my body still wasn't adjusting to the heat. I'm sure that when I closed the store, I'm almost certain I did something wrong but it was hot in that damn store and I just really didn't care.
